Class Captains serve as a liaison between classroom families, teachers, and the PTA. They help families feel connected to the school community and provide a great opportunity to get involved at both the classroom and PTA levels.
Class Captains Help With:
- Connecting Class Families: Maintain an up-to-date contact list for the class and help facilitate communication between teachers, families, and the PTA. Email addresses and phone numbers are recommended.
- Classroom & School Events: Coordinate with the classroom teacher(s) about any needed classroom activities and share information about school events and initiatives on behalf of the PTA.
- Getting Parents Involved: Help recruit volunteers for classroom and school events and activities throughout the year.
- Class Gifts: Coordinate teacher/staff gifts for holidays, birthdays, Teacher Appreciation Week, and the end of the school year. All families are welcome to contribute, but contributions are completely voluntary. Gifts are given on behalf of the entire class, regardless of who contributes.
- Building Class Community: Organize class playdates and other fun, informal activities that give families an opportunity to connect and help build a strong classroom community.
