Fall Book Fair

A BOOK FAIR WHERE EVERY CHILD SHOPS EQUALLY

New to Marshall? Our book fair works a little differently, and we're proud of it.

In Spring 2024, Marshall became the first school in the district to try a better way: pooled classroom spending. When each class comes to shop, every child gets the same amount to spend as their classmates. The result is an equal, joyful experience for everyone. Other schools in the district and beyond are now following our lead.

Your support keeps this system going, and it makes a real difference.

HOW THE CLASS E-WALLET WORKS

We suggest a $30 contribution per student, but participation is entirely optional. Every student receives book fair funds, whether or not a family contributes.

• All contributions to your child's class e-wallet are pooled and split evenly among classmates.
• If the class total is less than $25 per student, the PTA makes up the difference so every child has at least $25 to shop.
• Any funds left after student shopping will be used to purchase books from teachers' wish lists for classroom libraries.

THE STUDENT SHOPPING EXPERIENCE

This is our third year partnering with Literati, a vendor known for its high-quality selection and focus on books (not trinkets!). During in-school shopping:

• No book costs more than $20, and non-book items (bookmarks, pencils, erasers) are capped at $6.
• Shopping is completely cash-free: students use class funds only, with no cash or personal e-wallets.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Our fair runs on parent volunteers, for setup, student shopping shifts and cleanup. All volunteers receive a 20% discount to use during their shift. Watch for a sign-up link coming soon, or email bookfair@marshall-pta.org to get involved.

THE BOOK FAIRY FUND

While our pooled funds make the fair equal for every student, Book Fairy contributions go a step further, supporting Marshall's broader reading initiatives and classroom libraries. Look for an option to donate within the class e-wallet link.

FAMILY NIGHT: THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 5–8 PM

Our annual Family Night is one of our favorite community events! Cash and credit cards are accepted, and the full inventory is out, including premium titles, journals, posters and more. The Fifth Grade will be selling pizza slices as a fundraiser, so dinner is taken care of! Enter through the new-wing door by the parking lot.

This is Marshall's one and only book fair of the school year, so don't miss it!
